Church of the City is a family of diverse churches that are working together for the common good and the renewal of the city of Nashville. We launched on Easter Sunday of 2013, planting congregations in East Nashville and Franklin. In 2015, we united with The People’s Church and added a Spring Hill church, and in 2016 opened a neighborhood church in Sylvan Park. Our vision is not for people just to attend church, but to be the church, transforming people into passionately engaged followers of Jesus.
Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you... if it prospers, you too will prosper.
— Jeremiah 29:7
We are an informal and friendly church who accepts people as they are. There is no need to dress up unless it makes you feel more comfortable.
Our preschool and children’s ministry uses a state-of-art electronic check-in and security system. After you register your children our team will be happy to help you find their room.
Every Wednesday we have a weekly gathering of middle school and high school students. It’s an opportunity for us to have fun, worship God, and discuss the Scriptures together.
WEDNESDAYS 6:30-8:30 PM
When Jesus announces in Mark 1:14 that “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” The Holy Spirit gives hearing and response to Jesus’ announcement and the church is birthed. It’s Jesus’ announcement of the kingdom that draws our community forward toward the day when God’s reign will be fully established on earth again and calls us to enter into the kingdom now as God’s kingdom people. In this way, the church is a both a preview of what is to come and an agent of renewal as the eternal kingdom of God is established among us. The prayer of Habakkuk captures our heart’s desire as we anticipate the fulfillment of God’s kingdom.
“Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.” – Habakkuk 3:2
We believe life change happens best in smaller groups. The heart of our church is made up of Missional Communities that meet in neighborhoods all across the city. We regularly share meals, study the scriptures and serve local needs in the community. We also have less structured social gatherings that meet in neighborhoods throughout the week.

We want to be a church that is known by what we are for. We are for our city. We have groups all across the city that regularly serve the community, partnering with ministries, non-profits, schools and community projects.

Our church is made up of people with different gifts, talents and abilities who serve regularly to help us gather each week. We’d love for you to join one of our volunteer teams. These include: Production, creative, KidCity, students, connection, hospitality, security, communion and coffee.
