We are so excited you’ve chosen to dedicate your child at Church of the City! Child dedication is not a salvation experience or mandatory right of passage in your child’s life. This is simply an opportunity for you to stand before God and our community to profess your commitment to raising your child in a home where you know, love and follow Jesus and are praying those same things over your child. Though child dedication doesn’t necessarily assure future salvation, it does provide a chance for our community to stand with you and bless you as you begin or continue your parenting journey. All of us need the support of other parents along our journey to raise children who grow in wisdom and stature and favor with God and men. (Luke 2:52)

With these things in mind, we’d like you to do a bit of homework prior to your child’s dedication. We’d love for you to listen to the two messages below by our lead pastor **over all campuses**, Darren Whitehead, that directly speak to you as a parent. In addition to listening, we’ve created outlines and questions to accompany each talk. We ask you to listen to these messages and go through the outline and questions with your spouse or a close friend, discussing how the ideas presented lead you to want to parent your child and shape his/her faith.

Don’t hesitate to ask us if you have any questions. We look forward to celebrating with you.

Walking with you,
Terri Jackson
Early Childhood Coordinator

The child dedication will take place at the beginning of the 9 o’clock and 11 o’clock services.

During the dedication, your family, along with other dedicating families, will be called to the front by a pastor. During this time you will be asked to respond to a series of questions and commitments by saying “We do.”

**Immediately following your child’s dedication there will be a celebration reception with light refreshments and a family photo opportunity during the remainder of the service. You are welcome to invite your family and close friends to join us to celebrate this important day in the life of your family.**
